Writefull Language API

automated language edits and quality metrics

In a nutshell

Writefull’s Language API can receive (batches of) sentences or documents, and return language corrections and quality metrics in JSON or as Track Changes. The corrections and metrics are provided by Writefull’s AI-driven language models, of which there are two editing levels available. Multi-faceted yet flexible, the API supports many file types and can be easily adjusted for different use cases.

Use cases

The API is currently being used for, but not limited to:

Language quality evaluation

Clients send texts or documents to the API and receive metrics on the language errors in different categories and subcategories. Publishers use this service to triage manuscripts, copy editors use it to allocate resources to texts, and language editing companies use it to encourage customers to use their editing services.

Automated language revision

Clients send texts or documents to the API and receive language suggestions in JSON or as Track Changes. Companies that have their own text editor, either internal or customer-facing, use the JSON response to offer Writefull’s language feedback to their users. Revisions in Track Changes are used by companies that do proofreading, translation, content writing, and more in Word.

Proofreader assessment

Clients send proofread or copy edited texts or documents to the API, in some cases together with the original work. The API returns quality metrics on the original and edited texts, or documents with Track Changes. Language editing companies and publishers use this as a quality check to ensure no errors were missed, or to assess their editors’ performance.
